Berlin 1980 – It’s the height of the Cold War and the death strip, the most guarded border of its time, divides the city. On the East side in a society where every sixth person is an informant for the STASI (Ministry for State Security), everything comes down to whom you can trust, even when it comes to family.
On the verge of alienating her family forever, an opportunistic scientist finds herself at the center of unwanted attention by the STASI. In a desperate bid to save her research and children she plans an escape to West Berlin.
The Death Strip was the winner of the Student Emmy (the College Television Award) for Best Drama, the Directors Guild of America Best Student Filmmaker Award, the Emerging Cinematographers Award from the International Cinematographers Guild and was chosen to be the Best Film on Campus from MTVU among others. It was featured on the Sundance Channel and in Kodak’s InCamera Next generation. It’s distributed through Shorts International and available on iTunes.
